…from beyond?

Last year…March, it must have been.

Nancy was away in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania attending to her sister while she received chemotherapy treatment.

Thursday night…late, I received a text from a friend to let me know that her husband and our good friend had been taken to the emergency room and wasn’t expected to live.

How could this be?

He’s too young!!!

I responded to the text and in total disbelief called Nancy to let her know devastating news. As soon as she could catch a flight she would be home…

The following morning I made my way to the hospital.

I needed to say “Goodbye” to my friend…

Arriving home from the hospital and needing to stay busy I set out to do my Friday morning chores.

But before I get started I have to do something.

My friend and I often shared a glass of Single Malt Scotch whiskey.

My mission has changed.

Away to the store to purchase the finest Single Malt Scotch Whiskey that I might pay homage to my friend and toast the beginning of his new journey.

And away I go…

As I approached the first major intersection, a funeral procession shut down the intersection.

Nothing completely out of the ordinary…

After the procession passed and the flow of traffic resumed I continued on my way. About five to six miles down the road, as I approached another major intersection, another funeral procession. Okay, now you’ve got my attention.

After the procession passed and the flow of traffic resumed I continued on my way.

Purchase made, mission accomplished.

Home. Back to work!

Music…must have music to work to.

Domestic chores require working music.

I turn on the receiver…Apple TV…Music Library…Shuffle…

Now, understand that I have a rather large music library with thousands of songs in every genre you might imagine.

The following song…a cover performed by Lucky Peterson began to play

“Death Don’t Have No Mercy”

Y’ Know Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land
Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land, In This Land
Come To Your House, You Know He Don’t Take Long
Look In Bed This Morning, Children Find Your Mother Gone.

I Said Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land.
Death Will Leave You Standing And Crying In This Land,
Death Will Leave You Standing And Crying In This Land, In This Land, Yeah!

Whoa! Come To Your House, Y’ Know He Don’t Stay Long,
Y’ Look In Bed This Morning,
Children You Find That Your Brothers And Sisters Are Gone.
I Said Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land.

Death Will Go In Any Family In This Land.
Death Will Go In Any Family In This Land.
Come To Your House, you know he don’t take long.
Look in the bed on the morning, Children Find That Your Family’s Gone.

I Said Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land.
Death Will Leave You Standing And Crying In This Land,
In This Land. Whoa! Come To Your House,
Y’ Know It Don’t Stay Long, Y’ Look In Bed This Morning,
Children Find That Your Brothers And Sisters Are Gone.

I Said Death Don’t, Death Don’t Have No Mercy In This Land

Okay, now you’ve really got my attention. I hear you…
and then the text arrived…”He’s gone”.
